Chris Carkhum, PhD, MEd, LPC, NCC, CEAP, SAP
Clinical Director & Partner
Chris has worked in the mental health and addictions field for the past 40 years. Over the course of his career, he has earned three master’s degrees: an M.S. in Clinical-Administrative Specialist, an M.Ed. in Counselor Education and School/Community Counseling, and an M.A. in Forensic Psychology. He is a Certified Employee Assistance Professional (CEAP), a U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) Substance Abuse Professional (SAP), and an internationally certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor. He is currently completing his doctorate in counselor education and supervision (Ed.D.).
One of Chris’s primary specialties is addictions. Whether someone is facing a life-long dependence on alcohol, an overreliance on pain medication after surgery, or struggling with compulsive pornography use, Chris offers experienced, nonjudgmental support and clear next steps. Another area of focus is marriage coaching—he often partners with a marriage coach colleague to bring balance and depth to counseling couples.
As a seasoned Employee Assistance Professional, he also enjoys helping clients address workplace stressors, performance concerns, and job-related conflicts. Chris is very pragmatic and is known for his realistic, yet compassionate, no-nonsense approach when working with clients.
